Healthy Cholesterol and Blood Pressure Levels

Health professionals often use two measurements to assess the cardio vascular health. These are blood fat (including cholesterol and triglycerides) levels and blood pressure. So, what are the healthy levels for these? These numbers have been revised over the period of time. There is also general agreement that the ratio of total cholesterol to bad cholesterol may be a better indicator than the absolute numbers. The tables below show approximate guides to both cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

The levels of the blood fat levels and your blood pressure levels vary. So it is always a good idea to have your blood pressure and cholesterol level checked by your physician on a regular basis.

Cholesterol and Triglyceride Levels for People (without Heart Disease), mg/dL

Blood Lipid Good Borderline High
Total cholesterol 200 or less 200-239 240 and above

Triglycerides 200 or less 200-399 400 and above
HDL cholesterol ("good cholesterol") 60 or above
